Hanging Shelves For Your Home

November 28th, 2009 by admin

Hanging shelves are a popular part of most people’s homes even though you never really pay too much attention to them.  I mean how often do you look at the hanging book shelves as opposed to the books themselves?

Most people out there underestimate how these shelves that hang are part of the office or around the home.  So they tend to forget them and look for other ways to display the books, wall decor or any other things that they need to hang.

Shelving can also be used for organization and things like that.  For example, if you want to hang sweaters, glass, books, clothes, or other decor in your house, you would use a hanging organizer like this.  The problem is most people really don’t see how many different variations of shelving there really is out there.

Instead they just get whatever is out there in the store and that sometimes doesn’t fit the home or room that needs the indoor shelf.
If you end up ready to buy hanging shelves, you should be ready to list what you use and what you will put it towards.  For example, consider how much weight you will need to hold, what the dimensions will be, what color you want it to be and how it will match the room.

Also you need to consider the space on the wall and how the shelves will fit into it.  Sometimes glass might be better, other times you should stick with wood or whatever storage shelving you can find.  You need to do this ahead of time so that you don’t end up buying the wrong kind for your home.
Selecting the best type of storage shelving might require you to ask a professional and get some more questions about it, but usually we can use our own judgement for this activity.

Hanging shelves are really important for you and you should get a guideline when picking the correct unit.  If you contact someone make sure they have experience in the area, but if you just look for it yourself, be sure to plan and take the time so you make a good money investment.  Don’t forget to secure your hanging shelves with a solid piece of holding material so it won’t break off the wall and damage something.

Stay tuned for more to come with shelving, indoor storage and decor.

Hanging Shelves and their many Uses

December 7th, 2009 by admin

Hanging shelves are great for long-term display in the home and can even be used as an industrial storage tool at your workplace or the garage. Hanging shelves are incredibly easy to find, I prefer to get mine at Amazon.com. This is because shipping can be amazingly cheap and you can find a wide selection to choose from.

After you have some hanging shelves you need to find a way to use them. The first kind I will talk about is Glass hanging shelves. Glass shelves are see through, usually for aesthetics or looks because they are designed uniquely and can break if used economically. Glass shelves really fit the home well because they have an indoor quality to them. Much more so than other shelves out there.

Hanging sweater shelves are also used for the home but they are used for the purpose of hanging clothing like sweaters. This is especially usefult to you in the wintertime because sweaters are necessary to keep warm.

Hanging storage shelves are rarely used in the home. They are used for storage in the garage, outdoor shed, or at some other warehouse because they can store [...] Continue Reading…

The building process is short compared to the planning stage. Designing your own storage shed plans will take a great deal of time versus ordering a set of storage shed plans that meet your requirements and needs. There are thousands of plans available on the internet. The storage shed plan you choose will have step by step instructions, construction drawings with details, and a materials list. The next step is building or installing shelves, racks, and hooks. Think list: Look at what you are going to store. Place items into separate piles. Take accurate measurements. Correct height, depth, and width will be needed. Self questions: Do you want to use pegboard, brackets, or hooks? Do you need storage shelves in the shed for both the interior and the exterior? What are the Main Facts to Remember When you Want to Sell Comic Books?

January 19th, 2010 by admin

When many of us buy comic books we frequently read them and place them on a pile of old comic books or our book shelves. This attitude changes when we are collecting these comic books. In these cases we take great steps to preserve our comic book collection. There are instances where we may decide to sell comic books that we have doubles of or ones that we feel are bringing the value of our collection down.

To ensure that you are able to sell comic books that you have no need of there are certain steps that must be seen to. As many people want to have good quality comic books whether it is just for reading pleasure or for serious collecting you will need to make sure that both the inside and the exterior of the comic book are in excellent condition.

If you ask Santa for Garage Shelving, be Specific

January 18th, 2010 by admin

So, you sat on Santa’s knee this year and told him that you wanted some garage shelving for Christmas so that you could have a more organized garage, but were you that general or were you more specific as to what type of garage shelving you wanted? Not all shelving is equal and the same, it comes in many different sizes, materials and configurations. Let’s take a look at some types of shelving available so that you can send Santa a note with the details. The most obvious category of shelves are open shelves, the other type are closed shelves, usually called cabinets. Let’s take a look at both of these types of garage shelving. Regular open shelving is what most people think of when they think of garage shelving, but they are a couple of primary differences between them and indoor shelves. First, they are more heavy duty, and second, they are usually deeper (18 - 24 inches). I have two types of garage shelving in my garage that I really like. The first is made of a heavy duty plastic which can be broken for easy moving. The other is metal wire with plastic coating. Both [...] Continue Reading…

How To Maximize Space Using Storage Shelving

January 16th, 2010 by admin

Storage shelving provides you with the most efficient method of maximizing any storage space that you have. There are many storage shelving systems available where single shelves are supported by fixed brackets on fully adjustable units. The storage shelving can be designed to blend in with the style, character or shape of a room or it may even act as a decorative feature. But when using any form of shelving it is important that the materials it is made from are strong enough to bear any loads that are put on them. Shelves come in a variety of different materials from wood (of different thicknesses and finishes) to glass or metal ones. However the simplest storage shelving around is that on a non adjustable track system. When you have decided what type of shelving support system you are going to need and have decided on the shelving material you are going to use you will now need to either install it yourself or get a professional company to do it for you. However if you are putting up the shelving system yourself make sure that you secure the unit securely to the wall and take care when hanging the [...] Continue Reading…

Wall Shelving Ideas: Wall Shelving - Designer Or Budget

January 13th, 2010 by admin

Wall shelving can be anything from traditional to way-out: there is probably enough wall shelving ideas to suit just about anybody and any budget. One of my son’s favorite wall shelves when he was younger was a Nike ‘tick’ - a shelf quite literally shaped as a ‘tick’. I bought this for him from IKEA - whether these shelves are still available there I don’t know, but you can always browse their website to find out. Personally, I have always been a particular fan of glass wall shelving, with one of my favorite designs being supplied by Argos. Basically it is a set of adjustable glass shelves which come flat packed for home assembly. The whole set is 60cm in height and 45cm wide, all held together with a dark wood center piece. It is described as a Wave 3-Tier Glass Wall Shelving Unit and retails at around $41.00. Of course, if you want to push the boat out, there is the Harmony Wall Panelled Shelving Unit 200 manufactured by Arena Furniture which, at its full retail price, sells at $954.00 or thereabouts. It consists of 9 glass shelves set into three individual shelving tiers. Perhaps I am cynical, [...] Continue Reading…
